You can train with Forklift Systems either at one of our regional training facilities or on-site at your workplace. All programs combine formal instruction (lecture, videos, written materials) with practical, hands-on exercises and a mandatory workplace performance evaluation per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(l)
1. Complete an approved operator training class (formal + practical).
2. Pass a written exam.
3. Demonstrate safe operation in your work environment under direct supervision.
4. We then certify you and issue your forklift license.
Employers must document training dates, evaluation dates, and trainer information to comply with OSHA standards.
Standard courses run 4–6 hours, depending on class size and the number of attendees. This includes both the classroom module and the hands-on evaluation segment.
Your certification is valid for 36 months from the date issued. Refresher training and re-evaluation are required every three years — or sooner if triggered by an accident, observed unsafe operation, or changes in workplace conditions.
Courses follow OSHA’s Powered Industrial Trucks standard (29 CFR 1910.178) and cover:
- Truck-related topics: controls, stability, load handling, refueling/charging, daily inspections
- Workplace-related topics: floor conditions, pedestrian traffic, narrow aisles, hazardous locations
- Hands-on practical exercises and a final performance evaluation.
